Operating mode: report or enforce – Quality Gate Pro
Operating mode (report / enforce)
The operating mode decides what happens when a product violates a blocker rule. You set it in the Configuration under "Enforcement settings".
Report only (default)
In "Report only" mode the plugin detects violations and shows them — on the product, in the dashboard, in the audit log and in notifications — but never changes your products. Visibility stays untouched.
This is the safe default and is ideal for getting an overview of the state of your product data without affecting the shop.
Enforce
In "Enforce" mode the plugin additionally removes the visibility of a product with a blocker violation in the affected sales channel. The product is then no longer visible in that channel's storefront.
How enforcement works in detail:
- Per sales channel — only the visibility in the affected channel is removed. The product stays available in other channels.
- The global
activestate is untouched — the product is not deactivated globally. - No auto-reactivation — visibility is only ever removed, never automatically restored. Re-publishing stays a deliberate manual decision.
- Idempotent — visibility that is already absent is left untouched.
Only blockers affect visibility
Regardless of the mode: only rules with severity Blocker can affect visibility. Rules with severity Warning are only displayed and never lead to visibility removal.
Recommended approach
- Stay in "Report only" mode after installation.
- Check in the dashboard which and how many products have violations.
- Clean up product data or create overrides for deliberate exceptions.
- Only switch to "Enforce" once the picture is right.
