Threshold – Free Shipping Bar

Threshold

The threshold is the plugin's most important setting, because it directly determines what promise the bar makes to your customers.

How the order value is calculated

Progress is based on page.cart.price.positionPrice – the sum of the cart line items, excluding shipping costs. Shipping costs themselves are not part of the calculation, since they are precisely the outcome the bar is working toward.

The bar's percentage is derived from the ratio of the line item sum to the threshold, rounded and capped at 100%. If the line item sum is greater than or equal to the threshold, the text "Great — you get free shipping!" is shown instead of the remaining amount.

Why the value must match your shipping rule

The plugin does not calculate shipping costs and does not create a free-shipping rule. That rule must exist in Shopware independently, either via:

  • the shipping method's price matrix (Settings → Shipping → the relevant shipping method), or
  • a Rule Builder rule that makes the shipping method available or sets its cost to €0 based on order value

Enter the threshold in the plugin exactly as it's configured in the shipping rule. If the displayed amount diverges from the shipping method's actual threshold, it undermines customer trust – for example when the bar shows "You get free shipping!" but shipping costs are still charged at checkout.

Discounts and vouchers

Discounts, vouchers, and automatic promotions change the cart's line item sum and therefore the bar's progress as well. A percentage voucher, for instance, lowers the order value and thus the line item sum – in this case the bar shows a larger remaining amount until the (unchanged) threshold is reached. This is expected behavior, since your actual shipping rule is typically based on the same order value.

Net or gross prices (B2B channels)

In sales channels with net price display (e.g. B2B shops), page.cart.price.positionPrice follows the price display configured for that channel. Make sure the threshold configured in the plugin matches the same display mode (net or gross) as your shipping rule in the respective channel – this is especially worth checking in mixed B2B/B2C setups with separate sales channels, see Configuration per sales channel.

Recommendation for the threshold amount

A sensible threshold is usually slightly above your shop's average order value. This keeps the goal achievable for most customers while still motivating them to add one more product to the cart.

Disabling the threshold

Setting the threshold to 0 disables the bar entirely – the plugin only shows the bar when the configured value is greater than 0. This is a simple way to temporarily hide the display without deactivating the plugin.
